Brisbane Junior Interclub Chess Competition, 2 December 2016
On Friday, the 2nd of December 2016, a junior interclub chess competition was hosted by SPLC Indooroopilly Rookies Chess Club.
Format (based on four teams of 6 or 8 players, depending on numbers): 3 rapid games (15mins plus 5 second increments) played as a round robin. Number of rounds and time control may be altered depending on number of teams entered. Note: This is a QJ rated event.
Venue: St Peters Lutheran College - P&F Centre(upstairs) Just off Lohe St in Indooroopilly near the 50m swimming pool & cricket nets. See campus map here.
Time & Date: Friday, 2nd December 2016, 6:00pm – 9pm. Registration starts at 6pm. Competition starts at 6:30pm.
Cost: $10 per participant (regardless of school).
Spectators (parents, staff, students, etc) are welcome to attend.

GM David Smerdon Simul: Thursday, 16 February 2017
We had a very special guest attending our club: Grandmaster David Smerdon, who is currently the highest ranked player in Australia and who drew his game with world champion Magnus Carlsen at last year's Chess Olympiad. David currently resides in Europe, but he is back on a short visit to his home in Brisbane, Australia.
GM Moulthun Ly Simultaneous Exhibition occurred on 20th of October during the regular club night! Moulthun did a simul with our club members and also gave a talk on how he became a Grandmaster.
